The Corryong aerodrome was an asset during the bushfires.
Sure, most days the aerodrome was closed because the visibility was poor. One ham radio operator, Ken, managed the comms from the ICC, NRE and CFA as well as ham radio bands. It seemed to me he spent long, lonely days out there. He often filled requests apart from the radios such as counting barrels of avgas. Regardless, there needed to be good visibility in order for the planes to fly. |
