Accommodation had been arranged by the time we
reached the Clock Tree.

Our motel
Our Place

Yep. There was a clock in a huge tree. The people involved in logistics knew when every person had arrived, where he or she was lodged and when they left.

These folks knew everyone in the town and they knew of all the services such as hotels and motels, taxis and food preparers.

There were 3 of us sharing a 2 BR cabin. Neil decided to stay in the main house where there was a guest room. I used a pallet in the kitchen and got up early to do my morning shift. I made breakfast and then went on duty in the ICC by 8 am.

Our kitchen
My pallet was placed behind the table and in front of the cooker.

Gregg had arrived at that time and crashed in the bedroom. Ken, who had been sleeping there, got up and travelled to the airport. We had a washing machine and kept the place clean.

Phil was sleeping in the main room. He did the swing shift from 5 pm or so to late night -- when Gregg took over. I tried to keep quiet in the morning to allow the others some much needed sleep. When I got back to the motel, I often had a sleep since the temperature was in the 30s and 40s. And... it was hard to breathe.

We all bought provisions although at work we were fed magnificently.

The DivComs (divisional commanders) talked often about the number of litres of water and Lucozade the crew should consume. Consequently, we in the ICC  kept drinking water... often.
